Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,240 Troops, 6 Tanks and 64 Artillery Systems

Russian forces lost an estimated 1,240 troops, six tanks, and 64 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 22.

The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,475,270.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces also lost six armored combat vehicles, two multiple launch rocket systems, three air defense systems, 11 UGVs, and 1,792 operational-tactical UAVs during the reporting period.

Ukraine additionally reported the destruction of 435 vehicles and fuel tankers and six pieces of special equipment.

Russia’s cumulative equipment losses are now estimated at 12,292 tanks, 25,176 armored combat vehicles, 48,382 artillery systems, 2,054 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,584 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,344 UGVs, 474,641 operational-tactical UAVs, 5,049 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 137,804 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,565 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff recorded 202 combat engagements across the front over the past 24 hours, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors.

Previously, reports emerged that Ukraine’s Armed Forces are inflicting losses on Russia worth several times more than the cost of the weapons used to cause them, according to data tracked by the Mission Control module of Ukraine’s DELTA battlefield management system.

According to Mission Control data for June, every $1 Ukraine spent on engaging Russian targets produced approximately $5 in estimated losses for Russia.
