Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,420 Troops and 100 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an additional 1,420 troops and 100 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported in its morning update on May 1.
The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated losses since February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,331,710 personnel.

According to the report, Russian forces have also lost 11,903 tanks, 24,496 armored fighting vehicles, and 41,044 artillery systems since the start of the full-scale war. Additional losses include 1,757 multiple launch rocket systems and 1,357 air defense systems.
In the air domain, Russia has lost 435 aircraft and 352 helicopters. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have destroyed 265,284 operational-tactical drones and 4,579 cruise missiles.
Naval losses remain at 33 vessels and two submarines.

Logistics and support equipment losses continue to mount, with 93,009 vehicles and fuel tankers destroyed, along with 4,150 units of specialized equipment.
Over the past day alone, Ukrainian forces also destroyed 403 vehicles and fuel tankers, along with two additional units of specialized equipment.
The General Staff reported 138 combat engagements across the front line during the same period.
Russian forces launched 76 airstrikes, dropping 255 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they deployed 9,499 attack drones and carried out 3,304 strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 49 using multiple launch rocket systems.
Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence units, in coordination with Territorial Defense forces, carried out an operation that resulted in the heaviest reported personnel losses for Russia’s Rosgvardia-affiliated “Akhmat” unit since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Ukrainian forces used a combination of drone strikes and artillery to target the group, destroying military transport and armored vehicles. The agency reported that at least 40 Russian fighters were killed, with more than 80 others wounded.
