Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,460 Troops, 28 Tanks, and 78 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost another 1,460 troops, 28 tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, and 78 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on July 23.

Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since launching its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have now reached approximately 1,434,690 troops killed or wounded.

Ukraine also reported the destruction of three multiple launch rocket systems, two air defense systems, 13 UGVs, 1,688 operational-tactical drones, three cruise missiles, 541 vehicles and fuel tankers, and three pieces of special equipment.

Russia’s cumulative equipment losses now stand at 12,191 tanks, 24,994 armored combat vehicles, 46,570 artillery systems, 1,961 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,515 air defense systems, 438 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 1,994 UGVs, 423,588 operational-tactical drones, 4,936 cruise missiles, 34 ships and boats, two submarines, 124,243 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,453 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff recorded 261 combat engagements across the front over the past day, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Kostiantynivka directions.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russia’s worsening fuel crisis was beginning to disrupt military operations in Ukraine, with Russian troops reporting reduced gasoline and diesel deliveries, strict refueling limits, and growing difficulty supplying frontline positions.

In some cases, Russian troops are even forced to abandon military equipment because it runs out of fuel. Recently, Russian troops abandoned a working T-72 tank on the battlefield during a retreat after it simply ran out of fuel.
