Five Russian Officers a Day—Confirmed Command Losses Pass 9,000

Russia has lost at least 9,000 military officers since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to KIU as of October 29. This research group tracks confirmed losses among Russia’s command personnel using available open-source information (funeral notices, obituaries, Russian news, monuments, and memorial plaques).
The figure represents only the minimum number of identified officers, meaning the actual toll is likely higher.

Across 1,708 days of full-scale war, the pace of confirmed officer losses has remained remarkably steady.
On average, roughly five Russian officers are added to the confirmed casualty list every day.

Yesterday, Ukraine’s 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that it had spent months tracking the command post of Russia’s 26th Tank Regiment before destroying it with two HIMARS strikes.
One of the latest Russian losses of officers included three Russian strategic aviation officers linked to missile strikes against Ukraine, who were among those killed when a Tu-95MS strategic bomber crashed in Russia’s Amur region in late September.
