The brigade released footage of the operation on its official Telegram channel, showing the strike against the camouflaged Russian artillery position.
“Soldiers of the self-propelled artillery battalion identified a concealed Russian artillery position and destroyed an enemy D-30 gun using an unmanned aerial vehicle,” the brigade stated.
According to the unit, the operation demonstrates how Ukrainian artillery personnel are increasingly incorporating unmanned technologies into their combat operations, using drones alongside conventional artillery systems to engage enemy targets.
The brigade emphasized that combining different weapons and tactics allows Ukrainian forces to adapt to changing battlefield conditions and more effectively counter Russian artillery.
“Combining different means of warfare makes it possible to adapt to battlefield conditions and effectively counter enemy firepower. Destroying the enemy gun weakens the occupiers’ artillery capabilities and reduces the threat of shelling against Ukrainian positions,” the brigade said.
The Soviet-designed D-30 (2A18) howitzer, developed in the 1960s, can engage targets at distances of up to 15.4 kilometers, or 21.9 kilometers when using rocket-assisted ammunition, and is capable of firing up to 12 rounds per minute.

In a separate development, Militarnyi reported on October 20 that Russia’s 144th Motor Rifle Division had effectively lost its ability to operate as a coordinated military formation following Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi.
The assessment was provided by Andrii Biletskyi during a meeting reviewing the results of the operation conducted by Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps.
The 144th Motor Rifle Division, part of Russia’s 20th Combined Arms Army, had formed a significant component of Russian forces deployed at a bridgehead along the Chornyi Zherebets River. According to Biletskyi, Russian commanders intended to use the bridgehead to launch an offensive through Sviatohirsk toward Barvinkove.
