Russia Launches Attacks on Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson Regions, Killing Three and Injuring Several

Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine’s southern regions over the past 24 hours, targeting the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions with drones, artillery, and airstrikes.

The attacks killed at least three people, injured several others, and caused extensive damage to residential areas and civilian infrastructure, regional authorities reported on May 11.

In Zaporizhzhia region, one person was killed and two others were injured in Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia district, according to the head of Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov.

Fedorov said Russian forces carried out 785 strikes on 36 settlements across the region over the course of the day. The attacks included 630 drones of various types targeting Zaporizhzhia city and several settlements in the region. Russian troops also launched 155 artillery strikes on frontline communities in the region.

Authorities received at least 16 reports of damage to residential buildings, non-residential facilities, and civilian vehicles.

In Mykolaiv region, Russian forces attacked the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities with FPV drones and “Molniya”-type UAVs, as reported by the head of Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim.

Three civilians were injured in the attacks. Near the village of Solonchaky, a 68-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife were wounded, while a 19-year-old man was injured in the village of Ivanivka. All three were hospitalized and remain in moderate condition.

The attacks also damaged four private homes and four vehicles in the Kutsurub community. In the Bashtanka district, a separate FPV drone strike damaged the roof of a local outpatient clinic in the Horokhiv community.

Meanwhile, in Kherson region, Russian drone attacks, airstrikes, and artillery shelling targeted Antonivka, Komyshany, Bilozerka, Beryslav, and Kherson, among other settlements, according to the head of Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

Russian forces struck critical and social infrastructure, as well as residential areas. The attacks damaged an apartment building, four private homes, and civilian vehicles.

According to Prokudin, two people were killed and two others injured in the attacks across the Kherson region.

On May 9, Russia launched a ballistic missile and dozens of drones at Ukraine, despite Moscow’s previously declared three-day ceasefire marking Victory Day celebrations.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces attacked with one Iskander-M ballistic missile fired from occupied Crimea, along with 43 drones. The aerial assault included Shahed-type attack drones as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy UAVs.
