Russia Loses Nearly 43,000 Personnel in July, Highest Level Since January 2025

Russian forces suffered 42,860 personnel losses in July, making it the highest monthly figure since January 2025, according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

July was also the fourth-most effective month for Ukrainian forces in terms of Russian personnel losses since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The General Staff estimates that Russia’s total personnel losses since February 2022 have reached 1,461,660.

During July, Ukrainian forces also continued targeting Russian air defense and logistics capabilities. They struck 68 Russian air defense systems and destroyed or damaged 13,998 vehicles—the highest monthly figure recorded during the full-scale war.

The Defense Ministry noted that Ukrainian forces had previously recorded their highest monthly artillery losses in June, when more than 2,000 Russian artillery systems were destroyed or disabled.

In July, Ukrainian forces also struck 162 Russian tanks, including 28 on July 22. In addition, they destroyed or damaged 204 armored combat vehicles and 2,016 Russian artillery systems.
