Russian Drone Hits Kyiv High-Rise in the Morning, Injures Six Including Pregnant Woman

Kyiv woke to a Russian drone strike on a residential high-rise, an attack that wounded six people, including a pregnant woman.
Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reported the strike on September 9. in a post on his official Telegram channel, initially citing four wounded before the toll climbed. RBC-Ukraine later noted that the count had risen to six.

"As always, our rescuers responded promptly: as of now, the fire has been extinguished," Zelenskyy wrote.
The ground around the towers was left strewn with fragments of Shahed drones and shattered glass, RBC-Ukraine reported, and a response headquarters was set up at the site to help residents.
Zelenskyy noted that the same overnight and morning assault reached well beyond the capital:
the "Starokozache" international border crossing in the Odesa region, on the frontier with Moldova, where two people were killed, three injured, and sixteen evacuated, and where operations were suspended;
residential and infrastructure sites across Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions, where cleanup continued.
Zelenskyy urged partners to ensure sanctions and support for Ukraine work effectively, arguing that aggression must be stopped immediately so it does not spread further. He thanked everyone for helping to the extent of their capacity.
Russian drones have repeatedly struck Kyiv's residential districts through 2026.
On August 20, a daylight drone attack on the capital killed two people and wounded three, part of a wider assault whose overnight barrage killed 15 and damaged nearly 20 residential buildings across three districts.
Weeks earlier, on July 8, a drawn-out daytime barrage of jet-powered drones over the city wounded at least six people, including two medics.
