Russian Strike Hits Shopping Center in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Region, Sparking Fires

Russian forces struck a shopping and entertainment center in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region overnight on August 25, sparking fires and damaging the building, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported.

The attack targeted Slobozhanske in the Dnipro district, where two separate fires broke out—one near the shopping center and another inside the building.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and extinguished both fires, according to the SES.
The strike damaged a truck as well as the interior of the shopping and entertainment center.
No casualties were reported following the attack, according to the information available from emergency officials.
The strike marks another Russian attack on a shopping center in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Just days earlier, Russian forces launched a daytime drone attack on Kryvyi Rih’s largest shopping complex, causing extensive damage and setting the busy civilian facility ablaze.
The Kryvyi Rih attack killed 16 people and injured at least 130 others, including 23 children. Search-and-rescue operations remained underway as of the morning of August 22.
Deliberately targeting civilians or civilian objects constitutes a war crime under international law.
