Russian Drone Strike Hits Kryvyi Rih’s Largest Shopping Complex, Killing 5, Injuring More Than 90

Russian drones struck the largest shopping complex in Kryvyi Rih on daytime August 21, killing five people and injuring 52 others, according to and Kryvyi Rih Defense Council head Oleksandr Vilkul.
UPD: The number of people injured in the Russian attack on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih has risen to 91, according to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Hanzha.

Hanzha initially reported that the Russian strike had severely damaged the shopping center, sparking a fire and leaving people injured. He later said shops inside the complex were burning.
Vilkul said Russian forces targeted the city’s largest shopping complex with a strike drone and that numerous casualties were visible at the scene. Among the 52 people injured were six children, while 20 of the wounded were reported to be in serious condition and had already been taken into surgery.

Kryvyi Rih Defense Council head later reported that Russian forces carried out a second attack on the shopping complex while the response to the initial strike was underway.
Emergency crews launched a search-and-rescue operation following the attack.

The strike came a day after another deadly Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian capital. On the afternoon of August 20, Russian forces struck Kyiv, killing two people and injuring three others.
The attack also hit a critical infrastructure facility, marking the first such strike in several months and potentially disrupting hot water supplies in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district and parts of the Dniprovskyi district.
