Ukrainian Drone Strikes Russia’s $100 Million Nebo-M Radar 175 km From Front Line

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian Nebo-M long-range radar system near the Millerovo airfield in Russia’s Rostov region, according to Ukraine’s 429th Achilles Unmanned Systems Brigade on September 15.

The operation was carried out jointly by the 429th Achilles Brigade and the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade using a RAM-2X drone, which struck the radar at a distance of approximately 175 kilometers from the line of contact.
According to the Ukrainian military, the Nebo-M was positioned near the Millerovo airfield, which Russian forces regularly use to launch Shahed-type attack drones against Ukraine.

The Nebo-M is a Russian long-range radar complex designed to detect and track aerial targets at significant distances. The system allows Russian forces to monitor airspace and receive early warning of incoming long-range Ukrainian strikes.
The Ukrainian military estimated the value of the targeted Nebo-M radar system at approximately $100 million.
The Millerovo airfield is used by Russian forces to launch Shahed-type attack drones, as well as other strike and decoy UAVs. According to the brigade, drones operating from the airfield are regularly deployed in attacks against Ukraine’s eastern, central, and northern regions.
The strike comes amid continued Ukrainian drone operations targeting Russian military equipment and infrastructure. In a separate operation reported on September 14, a Ukrainian drone crew destroyed two Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers and damaged two others, with one of the strikes carried out after a 45-kilometer drone flight.
The crew commander, known by the call sign “Zhulyk,” said the four Grad launchers were the first systems of this type targeted by the battalion.
