Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces struck 18 Russian tanks and destroyed four others during a single day of heavy armored assaults along the frontline, the military branch reported on July 23.

The defensive operations disrupted multiple mechanized pushes, including an engagement against a 10-tank Russian armored column advancing near the settlement of Mayak in Donetsk region.

During the defense, operators from the National Guard of Ukraine’s “Omega” Special Purpose Center hit at least one modernized T-72B3A main battle tank equipped with Russia’s “Arena-M” active protection system using first-person view (FPV) drones.

Ukraine’s defense against Russian armor in Donetsk Oblast builds on a highly asymmetrical campaign by Ukrainian unmanned units across the region, where operators recently used a single low-cost drone to destroy a moving $50 million Russian Buk-M3 air defense system after Russian forces failed to conceal the high-value launcher during transit.
