According to a security alert issued by the US Embassy on October 31, the potential threat concerned the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, a historic palace and park complex in southern Moscow.

The embassy urged American citizens to avoid the museum and surrounding area on October 31, warning that an incident involving a large number of casualties could occur. US officials also confirmed that Washington was coordinating its response with the relevant Russian authorities.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) subsequently acknowledged receiving information from the United States about preparations for a possible terrorist attack in Moscow. The FSB said the intelligence had been transmitted through established communication channels between the two countries and that appropriate security measures were being taken.

The warning coincided with two concerts scheduled at the Tsaritsyno complex on October 31, including performances at the Bread House at 5 p.m. and Bazhenov Hall at 6 p.m.

Russian Telegram channel Baza reported that the museum grounds had subsequently been closed to incoming visitors, with people permitted only to leave the park. Law enforcement personnel were reportedly deployed across the site.

However, museum administrators initially stated that they had received no information about a security threat and that the complex continued operating normally.

The US Embassy advised American nationals in Moscow to remain vigilant, avoid large gatherings, monitor local news, keep mobile phones charged, and carry identification documents.

The embassy also recommended reviewing personal security plans and registering with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive emergency notifications.

The warning follows a previous terrorist attack in the Moscow region in March 2024, when gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue, killing more than 140 people. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for that attack.
