North Korea has denied reports that it plans to send up to 50,000 additional soldiers to Russia to participate in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, calling the statements unfounded, as reported by Reuters on August 19.

High-ranking North Korean official Kim Yo Jong, who is the sister of leader Kim Jong Un, rejected the assessment made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the possible deployment of 30,000 to 50,000 troops, describing it as an incident staged by the Ukrainian leader himself.

Kim Yo Jong also stated that the United States and Western nations carry full responsibility for starting and prolonging the war in Ukraine.

Commenting on relations with Washington, Kim Yo Jong noted that the hostile policy of the United States toward North Korea remains unchanged.

She made these remarks despite orders from President Donald Trump to reduce participation in joint military exercises with South Korea.

According to Kim Yo Jong, although relations between the leaders of the two countries were previously great, the United States continues to conduct military maneuvers with Seoul and pose a threat to the security of Pyongyang.

The response comes after President Zelenskyy stated that Russia decided to involve between 30,000 and 50,000 North Korean soldiers for military operations.

He emphasized that North Korean forces are using this opportunity to study modern warfare. The Ukrainian leader also noted that since Pyongyang will gain experience in modern warfare from Russia, this could pose a threat to other nations in Asia.

Additionally, North Korea will receive military tools and licenses from Russia.
