Putin Suggests Ukraine Could Be Carved Up Between Russia and Poland—Warsaw Fires Back

Poland has categorically rejected Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s claim that Ukraine could eventually be partitioned and some of its territory handed to Poland, calling the allegation a cynical attempt to drive a wedge between Kyiv and its allies.

Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór issued the response on July 28, saying Warsaw had never held territorial ambitions toward Ukraine.

“We unequivocally reject Vladimir Putin’s false speculation about the alleged partition of Ukraine and Poland’s involvement in it—it is a cynical attempt to provoke antagonism between allies,” Wewiór said.

He stressed that Poland’s position on Ukraine’s borders had never changed.

“Poland has never had, does not have, and will never have territorial claims against Ukraine,” he said.

Warsaw remains fully committed to Ukraine’s sovereignty and internationally recognized territory, Wewiór added.

“Our position remains unchanged: we fully support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Russian disinformation will not divert attention from Moscow’s brutal aggression,” he said.

Previously, Russian military channels claimed their forces had captured Bilyi Kolodyaz in the Vovchansk direction, presenting the video as evidence. But it showed a massively oversized, AI-edited soldier and a flag that fades out while the footage remains otherwise still.
