Sharon Stone Becomes Co-Curator of Ukrainian War Photography Project “Postcode Ukraine”

Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has joined the photography project “Postcode Ukraine: A Volunteer’s Diary” as a co-curator, helping present a visual record of Ukrainians’ lives during Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to Postcode Ukraine on September 10.

The project features photographs taken in Ukraine by photographer Mark Neville and has been brought together in an exhibition in Los Angeles, running from September 11 through September 30.
As part of the project, Stone reflected on one of Neville’s photographs depicting a young girl named Maria in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region, in May 2023.
“The loudest voice in the world is the one unspoken. And it’s hers. The solemnity of her wild femininity is demonstrated in the garden which she anchors... It is the absence of emotion in this photograph that creates such profound emotionality,” Stone said.
Stone’s involvement is among a number of recent initiatives by prominent figures in the entertainment industry aimed at supporting Ukrainians and drawing attention to the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s war.
American singer Chappell Roan, for instance, recently launched a new lip-combo collection in partnership with MAC Cosmetics, with proceeds from sales set to support humanitarian relief efforts, including assistance for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
Roan announced the collaboration through an Instagram Story on August 11, saying that all profits from the collection would be donated to Oxfam International. The humanitarian organization provides assistance to communities affected by crises in Ukraine, the Middle East, and countries across Africa.

Meanwhile, Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao has launched a fundraising initiative in support of animal rescue efforts in Kharkiv. As part of the campaign, supporters have an opportunity to join the director for a virtual cup of tea.
All proceeds from Zhao’s initiative will go to Animal Rescue Kharkiv, a nonprofit organization that rescues and cares for animals affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
