Ukraine Pulls Back the Curtain on FP-9 Ballistic Missile With 855-Km Reach

Ukraine’s new FP-9 ballistic missile is stepping into the public spotlight, with manufacturer Fire Point set to display a full-scale model of the weapon at DALO Industry Days, Scandinavia’s largest international defense-industry exhibition.
We bring you stories from the ground. Your support keeps our team in the field.
Fire Point announced the appearance on August 16. Its exhibition stand will also feature full-scale models of the FP-1 strike drone, the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, and the FP-7 missile.
DALO Industry Days is held under the Danish Ministry of Defense’s Open for Business initiative and brings together the Danish Armed Forces, the Danish Ministry of Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, or DALO, and defense companies from Denmark and abroad.

The event serves as a meeting point for military representatives, defense officials, procurement organizations, and manufacturers of weapons and military equipment.
DALO Industry Days 2026 is scheduled for August 19–20 in Herning, Denmark.

The FP-9 is expected to have a range of up to 855 kilometers, a speed of 2,200 meters per second, an 800-kilogram payload, and a flight altitude of up to 70 kilometers.
The missile is designed to launch from a mobile ground-based platform.

With a stated accuracy of up to 20 meters, the FP-9 is intended to strike large targets deep behind enemy lines.
Previously, Denys Shtilerman, co-owner and chief designer of Fire Point, said its FP-9 ballistic missile is one solid-fuel engine test away from flight trials, after which the company expects the weapon to begin striking targets inside Russia.
Asked when the company expects to provide the military with ballistic missiles for strikes against Russian targets, Shtilerman said the key remaining step is engine testing.
“Only one thing separates us from that, and that is engine testing. As soon as we test the engine, we begin flight trials,” Shtilerman said.
