As part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, another 16 Ukrainian children have been rescued from temporarily occupied territories, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak reported on September 17.
Among them is a 15-year-old girl who managed to escape with her aunt after Russian authorities sentenced her parents and older brother to long prison terms on fabricated charges.
A rescued 14-year-old girl and her 7-year-old sister lost their home and all belongings in a fire that completely destroyed their house.

Another 15-year-old girl, together with her parents, spent nearly three years in hiding, fearing that Russian forces could come to their door at any moment to seize the children.
A 10-year-old boy was also rescued after the so-called “guardianship service” in the occupied territory tried to take him away from his parents.
“Today these children are safe in Ukraine. They are receiving psychological support, restoring their documents, and taking their first steps toward a new, peaceful life,” Yermak emphasized.
Earlier, US Senators Lindsey Graham, Richard Blumenthal, and Amy Klobuchar introduced legislation in Congress demanding the return of thousands of Ukrainian children illegally taken by Russia.
