16-Year-Old Teen Confesses to Killing Ukrainian Woman and Infant in German Town

Over the past weekend, the bodies of a woman and a one-year-old child were discovered on a forest path in Dorsten. A 16-year-old teenager has now turned himself in to the police and admitted his involvement in the crime.
According to German media outlet ntv on June 30, the teenager was arrested in connection with the deaths of the woman and the child in Dorsten, North Rhine-Westphalia. Recklinghausen police and the Essen public prosecutor’s office reported that he approached emergency services at the scene on Sunday evening and confessed to the crime. The suspect is a Ukrainian national residing in Dorsten.
Investigators also reported that the woman found dead was identified as a 32-year-old Ukrainian citizen. The murdered child, a one-year-and-seven-month-old girl, was her daughter. Both had been living in Dorsten. Authorities initially withheld further details.

The bodies were discovered on the forest path on Sunday. Police immediately suspected a violent crime. Several witnesses reportedly informed authorities about the incident. A police spokeswoman said that autopsies were expected to be completed later in the day to provide more detailed information on the nature of the injuries and the cause of death. At present, no further information can be released.
Early Sunday morning, a passerby noticed the woman and initially assumed she was sleeping. The police were notified and later found the child’s body in nearby bushes.
