260,000 People in Northern Donetsk Left Without Water After Russian Shelling
The northern part of Donetsk region will be without water for an indefinite period following heavy Russian shelling, leaving 260,000 residents without access to water, reported Donetsk region governor Vadym Filashkin on October 3.
Cities including Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Kostyantynivka, and surrounding areas will face significant water supply disruptions due to the damage caused by Russian strikes.
On September 28, Russian forces severely damaged two critical water facilities operated by “Water of Donbas.” Due to the extent of the damage, it is currently impossible to restore the equipment’s functionality.
The regional administration, in collaboration with local authorities, is working on alternative solutions to provide water. For now, technical water is being temporarily supplied from a river intake.
Earlier, Russian shellings caused power outages across multiple Ukrainian regions, affecting railways and mines.
