Zelenskyy Congratulates Trump on Inauguration as 47th President of the United States
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. The remarks were shared via official statements and on X.
In his message, Zelenskyy emphasized the significance of this moment, referring to it as “a day of change and hope for addressing numerous global challenges.” He noted that the leadership and policies outlined by President Trump, particularly his approach of “peace through strength,” have the potential to reinforce American leadership and promote a stable and just peace globally.
“This century is being shaped right now,” Zelenskyy remarked, “and it is crucial for all democracies to collaborate in ensuring it becomes a century of success and progress for freedom and shared values.”
The Ukrainian leader expressed optimism for future cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, underscoring the importance of joint efforts in enhancing global security, stability, and economic growth. “Together, we are stronger,” he concluded.
Trump’s inauguration, held in the Capitol Rotunda due to cold weather in Washington, marked a historic moment. The ceremony, officiated by Chief Justice John Roberts, included the swearing-in of J.D. Vance as Vice President. Trump, who previously served as the 45th President, now becomes the second US leader in history to serve two non-consecutive terms, joining Grover Cleveland in this distinction.
At the conclusion of his second term, Trump will be 82 years old, making him the oldest president in American history.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump instructed his aides to arrange a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin following his inauguration. According to CNN, the discussion, expected in the coming days, aims to explore a potential meeting focused on resolving Russia’s war in Ukraine.
