Russian Shelling Causes Power Outages Across Multiple Ukrainian Regions, Affecting Railways and Mines

In the past 24 hours, Russian shelling led to widespread power outages across Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine

In the Donetsk region, as a result of hostilities, a substation was shut down, the power was cut off for several overhead lines, residents in two regions, the railway (trains were disrupted), and mines. A total of 532 workers were in the mines at the time of the incident. As of now, power has been restored.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, as a result of the shelling, overhead lines were disconnected, and power was cut off for residents and the railway, causing rail disruptions. Power has been partially restored.

In Kyiv, Odesa, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, overhead lines and equipment of substations were damaged as a result of a Russian UAV attack. As a result, the power was cut off for residents in the Kyiv region, in the Odesa region there were rail disruptions. Power has been partially restored.

In the Chernihiv region, as a result of the shelling, an overhead line was disconnected, 344 consumers remained without electricity.

With Russia's deliberate and consistent targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the country is suffering from an unprecedented energy crisis. Next winter is expected to challenge the Ukrainian people in a manner not witnessed in Europe since World War II.
