Donald J. Trump, sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, emphasized his vision of promoting peace in his inaugural address. Declaring his “proudest legacy” as a “peacemaker and unifier,” Trump pledged to focus on ending conflicts, avoiding unnecessary wars, and fostering global stability.

Trump noted the recent release of hostages in the Middle East:

“As of yesterday, one day before I assumed office, the hostages in the Middle East are coming back home to their families,” Trump stated.

The president also stressed the importance of a strong military:

“We will again build the strongest military the world has ever seen. We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars that we end, and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into,” Trump said.

Toward the end of his speech, Trump expressed optimism about America’s role in global stability:

“Our power will stop all wars and bring a new spirit of unity to a world that has been angry, violent, and totally unpredictable,” Trump highlighted.

Trump did not address Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.

Om January 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
