300 Russian Troops Killed in Southern Assaults as Ukraine Regroups Near Novovasylivske

Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the village of Novovasylivske in the Zaporizhzhia region to more advantageous defensive positions amid sustained Russian attacks on the southern front, according to the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine on November 15. 

The command said Russian forces are not reducing the intensity of assault operations, massed artillery shelling, or other fire strikes in the Zaporizhzhia and southern Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Over the past 24 hours, nearly 40 combat engagements occurred on the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole axes as Russian units continued to storm Ukrainian positions and attempt to infiltrate deeper into the country’s defensive lines.

According to the Southern Defense Forces, more than 350 attacks using over 1,500 munitions were recorded in this sector during the same period.

They reported Russian losses of nearly 300 personnel and 58 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including a tank, armored vehicles, various artillery systems, and light motorized vehicles. 

Military officials said the withdrawal from Novovasylivske was carried out “in connection with the regrouping of battle formations, changes in the configuration of the line of contact, and in order to preserve the lives of servicemembers,” with units repositioned to what were described as more favorable positions for defense.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia was positioning trained assault groups along the Zaporizhzhia frontline, particularly near Orikhiv and Huliaipole, to step up assaults and try to breach Ukrainian defenses in the south.
