Russia killed 89 media workers since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

This was reported by the Institute of mass information (IWI).

"11 died while performing professional duties, 78 as participants in hostilities or as a result of Russian shelling or torture," the IWI reported.

Among the killed were Maks Levin, a photojournalist executed by Russian troops while documenting Russian war crimes in Kyiv suburbs in March 2022, Pavlo Lee, a news and TV anchor, killed by Russian fire while evacuating civilians next to Irpin on March 6, 2022, and Mantas Kvedaravičius, a Lithuanian director and documentary filmmaker killed in Russian captivity in Mariupol in April or May 2022.
