On the morning of August 19, Russian sources stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the third and final bridge across the Seim River in the Glushkovsky District of the Kursk region.

The destruction of all bridges is expected to disrupt Russian logistics and halt the regular supply lines for Russian troops stationed in the southern part of the Glushkovsky district, according to the Russian publication Readovka.

Simultaneously, another Russian media outlet Agency Novosti stated that the destruction of this bridge could enable Ukraine to gain control over nearly 700 square kilometers of Russian territory.

Earlier, on Friday, August 16, another bridge across the Seim River in the Glushkovsky District was also destroyed.

Additionally, photos published on August 17 reveal that the Russian military has constructed two pontoon crossings across the Seim River in the Kursk region, located East of the village of Zvane. A day earlier, reports emerged of a similar crossing built East of the village of Glushkovo, according to Radio Svoboda.

“The Russian army began constructing these crossings following Ukrainian attacks on the bridges in this area. These crossings might be intended to provide Russian troops with escape routes in the event of a successful Ukrainian offensive,” the report states.

On August 19, new satellite images released by Radio Svoboda show that one of the pontoon crossings has been destroyed and smoke rising 500 meters from the crossing. Earlier, the fire near the crossing was noticed by NASA’s FIRMS satellites, which record fires on the earth’s surface.

Earlier, NASA’s FIRMS satellites, which monitor fires on the Earth’s surface, detected a fire near one of the crossings.

On August 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially announced that Ukraine is carrying out an operation in the Kursk region.

Recent reports indicate that Ukraine is now in control of 82 settlements, covering around 1,150 km² of Russian territory. Zelenskyy also mentioned that hundreds of Russian soldiers have surrendered to Ukrainian forces.
