ATACMS Missile Strike Destroys Russian S-400 System in Kursk and Kills Senior Officers

On November 23, 2024, a precision missile strike destroyed a Russian S-400 air defense system in the village of Bolshoye Zhirovo, Kursk Region, with Ukrainian media Unian revealing photos of a destroyed system on November 25.

The attack was carried out with 3 US-supplied ATACMS ballistic missiles, Ukrainian military sources reported.

The S-400 complex was undergoing repairs at the time and was not in operational condition. The strike obliterated a 92N6E radar station and two launchers.

The attack resulted in the deaths of 5 Russian officers, including the commander and chief of staff of the air defense division.

Furthermore, three employees of Almaz-Antey, the Russian state-owned defense contractor that manufactures the S-400 system, were killed.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the successful operation targeting the radar station of an S-400 surface-to-air missile system in Russia’s Kursk region.
