Battle Intensifies Near Ukraine's Kupiansk as Russian Forces Push Toward Key Highway

Head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besedin, stated that the front line is now just two kilometers away from Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, and the situation near the city remains extremely difficult.

According to Besedin, the Russian forces are constantly attempting assault operations. On January 8 alone there were over 12 assault attempts in the Petropavlivka-Holubivka direction, which is part of the central area of Kupiansk.

“The enemy is attempting to advance toward the main Svatove-Kupiansk highway to gain access to the city itself. The situation is also very challenging in the Zahrizove-Lozova-Kruhliakivka direction, where the enemy is persistently conducting assaults to reach the left bank of the Oskil River,” Besedin said on the national telethon.

At the same time, on January 7, it was reported that Russian forces breached Ukrainian defenses in the Lyman direction, Donetsk region.
