Belarus to Send Military Equipment to Russia Amid Ukraine's Advances in Kursk Region
Belarus gave instructions to transfer some military equipment from combat units to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Belnovosti reported.
According to the source, this is due to an urgent request from the Russian side in connection with losses and a shortage of equipment, both in the Kursk region and in other areas.
Recently on August 12 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially stated that Ukraine is conducting an operation in the Kursk region of Russia. According to the latest data, Ukraine was controlling 74 settlements, about 1,000 km² of the territory of the Russian Federation. Zelenskyy has also stated that hundreds of Russian soldiers surrendered to Ukrainian forces.
Belarus has been a close Russian ally since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, sending it equipment in 2022. According to Belnovosti, Belarus is now supplying ammunition and equipment directly from combat units rather than from warehouses, signaling a depletion of its stockpiles.
Recently the EU announced the addition of 28 more individuals to its sanctions list, citing their involvement in ongoing internal repression and human rights violations in Belarus.
