Boy Who Was in Intensive Care During Russia’s Attack on “Ohmatdyt” Hospital Has Died

Today, Ukraine’s Minister of Health reported on the tragic death of a young boy, the first child fatality from Russia’s rocket attack on the “Ohmatdyt” Children’s Hospital on July 8th.

Viktor Liashko said: “A young boy has passed away who was in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Ohmatdyt at the time of the rocket strike. Afterwards, he was transferred to one of Kyiv’s hospitals. We extend our sincere condolences to the child’s family. We will never forgive the Russian terrorists who are killing our children.”

The incident occurred amidst a series of coordinated rocket attacks by Russia on July 8th, causing widespread damage and casualties across Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

On July 8, 2024, a Russian missile strike targeted “Ohmatdyt” Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, resulting in extensive damage. The hospital, Ukraine’s largest for children, sustained destruction to multiple departments including surgical, intensive care, oncology, and hematology. The attack killed one doctor and one civilians, injured 64 people, including children.
