The United Kingdom will deliver additional artillery to Ukraine in the coming weeks, along with a new air defense system. The announcement was made during a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Starmer confirmed that 2025 will see the UK provide Ukraine with its largest military support yet. The planned shipment includes artillery units, marking the first British-manufactured artillery in 20 years, which will be shipped to Ukraine shortly.

“I am pleased to announce today that we are providing 150 artillery pieces, the first to be manufactured in the United Kingdom in 20 years, which will begin shipping to Ukraine in just a few weeks,” said the Prime Minister.

A new mobile air defense system, called “Grateful,” co-financed with Denmark, will also be supplied to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend against aerial threats. Starmer emphasized the UK’s ongoing commitment to training Ukrainian troops, adding to the 50,000 soldiers already trained since Russia’s invasion began.

During the visit, Starmer and Zelenskyy also signed a historic 100-year partnership agreement, further solidifying ties between the two nations.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Britain has remained a key ally to Ukraine, providing military equipment, including tanks, artillery, and armored vehicles, and organizing large-scale training programs for Ukrainian forces.
