Despite significant aid from the United States and European nations, Ukraine is making a substantial contribution to its defense, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated during a briefing with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Kyiv, Ukrainian media RBC reported on January 16.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine’s allies should not overlook the country’s significant role in the ongoing war.

“The war in 2024 has cost Ukraine approximately $100 billion to support its Armed Forces, of which $40 billion was provided by Ukraine itself. The US contributed $35 billion, and Europe, $25 billion. This is the approximate contribution from each of us,” the president explained.

He added, “We see strength in this alliance and demonstrate Ukraine’s contribution. Certainly, our people are our greatest asset, but you also see the financial commitment we’ve made.”

Earlier, the United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a 100-year partnership agreement aimed at fostering strong ties across the full range of relations, including trade, security, defense, science and technology, education, culture, and more.
