Canadian Prime Minister Invites Zelenskyy to G7 Summit in Alberta

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to attend the G7 summit, which will take place in Alberta, Canada, in June 2025.

According to The Times, a Canadian government representative, Carney extended the invitation during a phone conversation with Zelenskyy. The official confirmed the invitation, stating, “President Zelenskyy has been invited to the G7 meeting in Alberta in June.”

Canada, holding the G7 presidency this year, will host the summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17. The agenda is expected to focus on global security, support for Ukraine, and addressing economic challenges.

Carney, who assumed office as Canada’s prime minister on March 14, reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to Ukraine during his discussions with Zelenskyy.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held a call with President Zelenskyy, discussing the situation in Ukraine and efforts toward a ceasefire. Carney reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to Ukraine, emphasizing the need for Russia to engage in negotiations and comply with sanctions. He also underscored Canada’s continued military support as part of broader G7 commitments.
