Captain of Russian Black Sea Fleet Blown up in Car Explosion in Temporarily Occupied Crimea
Russian sources report that a car explosion killed the Chief of Staff of the 41st Brigade of Missile Ships and Boats of the Black Sea Fleet, Valery Trankovsky, in the city of Sevastopol in temporarily occupied Crimea. He was inside the vehicle during the explosion.
According to preliminary data, the improvised explosive device was attached to the bottom of the car on the driver's side and was activated remotely. Witnesses report that the man’s legs were blown off.
The Russian-appointed city head, Mikhail Razvozhayev, stated that the explosion occurred around 10 am on Taras Shevchenko Street.
Mesh reported that the emergency services arrived at the scene within five minutes, but were unable to save the driver, he died from combined injuries and profuse blood loss. The explosion tore off both his legs.
On the morning of October 4, Ukrainian intelligence reported that a car belonging to an employee of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant exploded in the temporarily occupied city of Enerhodar, Ukraine. Russia's Investigative Committee later confirmed his death.
