Russian Troops Execute at Least Five Ukrainian POWs in Kursk Region, Video Shows

A video is circulating on social media showing what appears to be the execution of at least five unarmed Ukrainian soldiers who had been taken captive by Russian forces.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, on March 13.
“The released video shows at least five likely executed prisoners of war. Once again, we see Russia’s military displaying blatant disregard for international humanitarian law,” Lubinets wrote on his official Telegram channel.
The Ombudsman stated that he sent letters to the UN and the ICRC to ensure that this war crime is documented.
The Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko wrote that the incident allegedly took place in the village of Kozacha Loknya in Russia’s Kursk region.
“A released video shows at least five murdered prisoners. For obvious reasons, I will not share it here,” Sternenko wrote. “Our units in Kozacha Loknya were cut off from the main forces and blockaded for about a week.”
On January 23, Sternenko shared the information about Russian forces reportedly executing six Ukrainian prisoners of war, providing a screenshot from the video, while restraining from posting the video itself.
