Russian Forces Execute 4 Unarmed Ukrainian POWs in Donetsk Region
On November 22, Russian forces executed four Ukrainian prisoners of war on Pokrovsk direction in Donetsk region, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Operational reports indicate that Russian military forces launched an assault on a Ukrainian Armed Forces position near the village of Petrivka in the Pokrovsk district.
During the attack, four Ukrainian soldiers were forced to surrender. Immediately afterward, Russian soldiers opened fire on them.
The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
Earlier on November 28, it was reported that Russian troops executed five Ukrainian prisoners of war in Zaporizhzhia region.
In October, the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported a rise in the executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian military forces. Their latest reports suggest that Russian commanders may be permitting, encouraging, or even directly ordering these acts.
Currently, Ukrainian law enforcement has information about the execution of 102 prisoners of war on the battlefield.
