Disguised as Civilians, Russian Sabotage Group Eliminated by Ukrainian Border Guards Near Huliaipole

Russian soldiers disguised in civilian clothing attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian positions on the Huliaipole sector of the front in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine but were detected and killed by border guards, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on December 11.
The agency stated that a group of men in civilian clothes approached Ukrainian border guard positions on December 10, observed the defenses for some time and then, taking advantage of rough weather, tried to bypass the lines and move into the rear.

Their disguise failed when a radio set carried by the group activated while they were moving, allowing Ukrainian forces to identify them as members of the Russian troops, the service reported.
Border guards then eliminated a two-man sabotage group, and uniforms of the Russian armed forces were found under the dead men’s civilian clothing.
The State Border Guard Service stated that the incident involved prohibited methods of warfare under international law, saying the actions “are a serious violation of international humanitarian law and are classified as perfidy .”
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s State Border Guard special unit “Dozor,” together with territorial defense fighters, ambushed and destroyed a sabotage group from Russia’s elite Senezh Special Operations Center that had been conducting raids in several northern regions.
