Ukrainian border guards have captured two Russian soldiers attempting to impersonate Ukrainian troops in the Kupiansk district. This was reported by Ukrinform on May 14.

According to the Ukrainian Border Guard Service, the two Russian soldiers were apprehended while attempting to pose as Ukrainian fighters. They were found wearing armbands of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment, a unit within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the individuals were soldiers from the 25th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment, part of Russia's elite "Storm-Z" unit, which is composed of former prisoners recruited into service.

“In the first contact, their strong Russian accent gave them away,” said one of the Ukrainian soldiers.

The Border Control noted that the captured soldiers had attempted to surrender but were found carrying communication equipment, including a radio and an antenna, suggesting they were actively monitoring Ukrainian forces.

One of the Ukrainian soldiers involved in the operation remarked, "If they had a radio and a 'spider'—a large wire on a tree — they were waiting and listening."

Previously, Ukrainian forces captured Uzbek fighter promised cash and a Russian passport.
