Donetsk Elderly Couple Receives Helicopter Surprise from Ukrainian Pilots, Video

Ukrainian army aviation pilots surprised an elderly couple in the Donetsk Region, who had always greeted them on their way to combat missions with the Ukrainian flag in hand.
The couple’s unwavering support gave the soldiers hope, so the pilots decided to return the favor with a gift of treats.
The goodies were lowered directly to the ground from a helicopter, and the heartwarming footage was shared on TikTok by the military.
“Because they gave us more than any words—they gave us faith. This war has taught a simple lesson: to remain human. Not to lose our humanity even where, it seems, only cruelty remains,” the military said in a statement.
The pilot explained that every time he and his crew went on a mission, their flight path passed a small house. Whether in the morning or evening the couple would be waiting at the gate, smiling and waving a blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag.
“You know, it was more than just a gesture. It was a feeling of home, warmth, and support. That small, yet invaluable ray of kindness gave us strength as we went into the unknown. Every wave of their hand was silent: ‘We are with you. We believe in you. Come back alive,’” one of the pilots recalled.
Feeling they could not leave the gesture unanswered, the soldiers bought bread, sausage, candy, and other treats for the couple. They carefully packed the items into a bag and lowered it to the ground during a flyby near the house.
“Our flag is a symbol not only of struggle but also of love, unity, and mutual support. Let’s stay together. We will win together,” the pilots added.
In the comments, the grandfather thanked the soldiers for the gifts, noting that the candy was very tasty.
“It’s the least we can do for you,” the pilot replied.
Previously, it was reported that a Czech volunteer group, Darek pro Putina (“Gift for Putin”), has delivered a Black Hawk UH-60 helicopter to Ukraine, funded entirely through public donations.
