Unconfirmed reports suggest that the city of Yelabuga in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan was targeted by drones early on June 15. The city hosts a facility assembling Shahed-type loitering munitions.

According to the Telegram channel Astra, a drone alert was issued at approximately 06:30 local time. Residents reported sightings of drones over both Yelabuga and Chistopol.

Videos circulating online appear to show UAVs in flight, air defense activity, and a subsequent fire. Russian officials have not commented on the incident.

Yelabuga is home to a drone production facility built in 2023 within the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. The site is known for manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles, including Iranian-designed Shahed attack drones used by Russian forces.

Earlier the same day, temporary flight restrictions were introduced at three airports in the region: Izhevsk, Kazan, and Nizhnekamsk. Kazan and Izhevsk are located in Tatarstan, while Nizhnekamsk serves as the capital of Udmurtia.

The Alabuga Special Economic Zone is classified as an industrial manufacturing hub and plays a key role in Russia’s ongoing drone production efforts.

Earlier, drones struck the Buturlinovka airbase in Russia’s Voronezh region, home to Su-34 fighter-bombers. Verified video shows multiple explosions during the June 13 overnight attack, which reportedly bypassed air defenses. The airfield hosts the 899th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment and has been active in airstrikes against Ukraine.
