The E3 leaders of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom issued a formal warning to Iran, stating on March 1 that they may join military operations alongside the United States and Israel.

This development follows a series of Iranian strikes against nations in the Middle East that were not involved in recent hostilities.

“The leaders of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are outraged by the indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks by Iran against countries in the region, including those that did not participate in the initial military operations of the US and Israel,” the statement said.

The European heads of state emphasized that these actions by Iran target close allies of Europe and put both military personnel and civilians at risk throughout the region. The E3 group called for an immediate end to the attacks, noting that failure to do so would lead them to enter the fighting.

“We will take the necessary measures to protect our interests and the interests of our allies in the region. This may include, if necessary, the use of proportionate military defense measures to destroy Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones at the source of their damage,” the publication stated.

The leaders concluded by confirming they have agreed to coordinate their efforts with the United States and other regional partners on this matter.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on Saturday, February 28, when Israel and the United States launched a joint operation against Iran. The primary goals of the mission were to address security threats, stop Tehran’s nuclear program, and eliminate the country’s missile capabilities.

In response to the operation, Iran began launching drones and missiles toward Israel and other regional states that had not taken part in the initial strikes on Tehran.

Earlier, Iranian-made Shahed drones struck a luxury hotel on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah and a US naval base in Bahrain. These were the same drone models that Russian forces had used extensively against Ukrainian infrastructure since 2022.

The attack on the Fairmont The Palm hotel caused a fire and injured four people, while other drones targeted US Navy facilities in Bahrain.
