Explosions Reported in Occupied Luhansk Amid Alleged Strike on Ammunition Depot
On October 29, explosions were heard in temporarily occupied Luhansk, with Artem Lysohor, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, suggesting that the strikes hit a decommissioned military facility where Russian forces likely stored ammunition.
Regional head noted that since the morning of October 29, local residents have been reporting the sounds of ammunition detonations. Videos shared on social media show a powerful explosion amid thick smoke following the strikes.
It is likely that ammunition was stored there to supply the front line. Lysohor mentioned that there was previously a decommissioned military unit in the area of the strikes.
"It is also known that traffic near Horkyi Park in Luhansk is currently blocked—this is a recreational area for local residents. However, the Russians cynically place their weapon and equipment storage there, closer to the civilian population, as human lives mean nothing to them,” Lysohor wrote.
“Today's explosions will undoubtedly impact combat operations on the front lines—considerable time will be needed to replenish supplies and establish new logistics routes."
