Explosive Strike Wipes Out 5 Akhmat Fighters, Destroys Russian EW System Near Melitopol

A successful joint operation by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) and local resistance forces resulted in the destruction of five fighters from the Russian-controlled “Akhmat” unit near the temporarily occupied city of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, as published by HUR itself on August 2.
According to Ukrainian officials, the operation took place on the outskirts of Melitopol on August 2. A van carrying members of the Chechen “Akhmat” unit was targeted with an improvised explosive device.
The detonation completely destroyed the vehicle, killing all five passengers on board.

Two additional Russian soldiers were injured by the blast while traveling in a separate vehicle nearby.
A Russian mobile electronic warfare (EW) system accompanying the convoy was also destroyed in the explosion, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence stated.
The strike forms part of an ongoing campaign by Ukrainian special services and resistance groups operating in temporarily Russian-occupied territories aimed at weakening occupation forces and sabotaging logistical assets.
No official comment has been made by Russian authorities as of the time of publication.
Earlier, it was reported that Atesh partisans burned a Russian mobile electronic warfare vehicle in occupied Melitopol, claiming to have disrupted drone‑operator capabilities belonging to the 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.
