A partisan group operating under the name “ATESH” has claimed responsibility for disabling a relay cabinet along a railway line in Russia’s Smolensk region, the group announced on May 15.

According to a statement shared by the movement, the relay cabinet was used to coordinate the movement of trains transporting military supplies to Russian forces positioned near Ukraine’s Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

The damage reportedly caused disruptions to the delivery of weapons and equipment to Russian units along the northern border.

“Agents of our movement disabled a relay cabinet on a railway track that was used by Russian military to supply weapons and equipment to Russian occupiers operating on the border of Sumy and Chernigov regions,” ATESH said in a statement.

The disruption’s extent and the railway line’s current status have not been independently verified. Russian officials have not commented on the reported incident.

ATESH, a movement of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians opposing the Russian occupation, has claimed responsibility for multiple acts of sabotage targeting Russian military logistics in recent months.

The group said it would continue its efforts “along the entire front,” aiming to hinder supply routes and reduce the operational capacity of Russian forces.

Each successful strike, the group added, “causes significant damage to the occupiers and undermines their morale.”

“Our work is not limited to one operation—we continue to act… creating difficulties for the enemy and imposing restrictions on his capabilities,” the statement read.

Previously, the Atesh partisan movement claimed responsibility for sabotaging a transformer substation in Mogiltsy, Moscow region, on May 8.
