The Atesh partisan movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation that disabled key military infrastructure in Russia’s Moscow region, the group announced on May 8.

According to Atesh, one of its agents destroyed a transformer substation in the village of Mogiltsy, the Moscow region, disrupting electricity and telecommunications in the area. The substation reportedly supplied power to several high-priority military facilities.

The blackout caused communication failures at multiple installations, including the 629th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment (Unit 51857), the 21st Separate Operational Brigade (Unit 3641), and a military compound housing Units 20007, 03523, and 51084. Disruptions were also reported at the 483rd Military Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee and at a distribution center belonging to SberLogistika, a logistics firm that holds contracts with Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

“The disruption of communications and power supply threw military command into chaos, derailing planning and coordination between facilities,” Atesh wrote.

On May 5, the Atesh partisan movement claimed responsibility for another sabotage operation, this time destroying a transformer substation in Saratov, Russia, disrupting power to infrastructure connected to Moscow’s military operations.
