French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot Visits Kyiv for the First Time in Office
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Kyiv on Saturday, October 19, marking his first official visit to Ukraine since assuming his position in September.
According to reports from Le Parisien, Barrot has already met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The French official’s visit is expected to focus on discussions about Ukraine’s path to victory, the current situation on the frontline, and the ongoing challenges faced by Ukrainian civilians.
Before his visit, Barrot spoke on French radio, emphasizing that France would not turn away from any crisis. He stated, “The security of our continent, including food and energy security, is at stake in Ukraine.”
Barrot assumed his role as Foreign Minister in September 2024, following the formation of a new French government under Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
