Gasoline Rationing Introduced in Russian-Occupied Crimea Following Ukrainian Strikes on Oil Infrastructure

Temporarily annexed Crimea has introduced new restrictions on gasoline sales at gas stations, capping purchases at 30 liters per transaction, according to Sergey Aksyonov, head of the peninsula’s administration, on September 29.
The new rules, which are effective immediately, aim to regulate fuel consumption and prevent stockpiling.
Aksyonov urged Crimean residents not to purchase gasoline in bulk, advising them to refuel vehicles in a standard manner.
Authorities have also introduced price ceilings, setting the cost of various types of gasoline and diesel between 70 and 80 rubles per liter (approximately $0.84 to $0.96).
Aksyonov also stated that the Ministry of Energy for the region would publish a list of gas stations with available fuel on its official website.
The fuel shortages come in the wake of widespread Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries, leading many of them to reduce operations. These attacks have caused a rise in fuel prices and a temporary ban on the export of gasoline from Russia.
As The Bell notes, Crimea is also facing additional challenges due to severe weather conditions near the Kerch Strait, further complicating supply lines and exacerbating the fuel deficit. This is the first time such restrictions have been imposed on fuel sales to private individuals in the region.
Previously, it was reported that a drone strike hit the “Elektrodetal” plant in Karachev, Bryansk region, sparking a fire that could shut down operations.
