German Leopard 2 Manufacturer Partners With Ukrainian Defense Firm in Joint Venture
KNDS Deutschland, the German manufacturer of Leopard 2 tanks, has launched a joint venture with a Ukrainian defense company to enhance the maintenance and repair of German-supplied military equipment for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Smetanin, on January 21.
The collaboration aims to accelerate repair processes, ensuring critical equipment returns to operation more quickly. Ukrainian specialists have already undergone training in Germany, and the joint facility is equipped with state-of-the-art systems to handle repairs locally.
“I thank Germany for its leadership in establishing joint ventures and for its trust in the Ukrainian defense industry,” Smetanin said.
According to Smetanin, this initiative highlights Germany’s leadership in fostering industrial cooperation and trust in Ukraine’s defense sector.
Previously, it was reported that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expects the Bundestag to approve 3 billion euros in aid to Ukraine before the early elections, scheduled for February 23.
