German defense company Rheinmetall has received an order to supply Ukraine with 20 additional Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) by mid-2025, the company announced on its official page on December 17.
According to Rheinmetall, the Marder 1A3 is an upgraded model featuring a modernized laser rangefinder, which improves target accuracy and engagement efficiency on the battlefield.
The first 20 Marder IFVs were delivered in March 2023 as part of German military aid, with subsequent deliveries continuing throughout 2023 and 2024.
The Marder IFV, known for its reliability and versatility, plays a significant role in Ukraine's defense efforts as the country continues to counter Russian aggression.
Previously, it was reported that the European Union will train 75,000 Ukrainian soldiers and other military personnel as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
