Germany Sends Ukraine Major Arms Shipment that Includes IRIS-T, Tanks, and HIMARS

Ukraine has received another substantial arms shipment from Germany, encompassing air defense systems, tanks, and armored vehicles. This information was disclosed through updates on the “provided aid” section of the German government’s official website.

The latest assistance package to Ukraine comprises:

  • 20 MARDER infantry fighting vehicles with spare parts and ammunition;

  • 10 Leopard 1 A5 tanks with accompanying spare parts, prepared for transfer jointly with Denmark, along with ammunition;

  • Additional IRIS-T SLM systems, totaling six including those previously provided, and IRIS-T SLS systems, totaling four;

  • Three HIMARS rocket artillery systems;

  • Over 21,000 155mm artillery shells, including a small quantity of smoke rounds;

  • Four anti-drone systems;

  • Two bridge-laying tanks;

  • Two armored engineering vehicles (DACHS) with spare parts;

  • Repair vehicle Bergepanzer 2 with spare parts;

  • Four mine-clearing tanks (WISENT 1) with spare parts and additional demining equipment;

  • Three AMPS protective systems for helicopters;

  • One hundred night vision devices;

  • Sixteen Zetros tanker trucks.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this aid during his visit to Odesa at the end of May. Additionally, Germany, together with Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands, revealed plans to provide Ukraine with 100 interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system, with over 30 already transferred.

During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Germany, he was shown a Patriot battery that would be passed on to Ukraine as part of the assistance efforts.
